Our little chick wishes you a Happy Easter!

He’s 7.5 months now and I have to say getting cuter every day.

Happy year of the snake!

Gung ho fa choi! We just watched an amazing display of fireworks over Hong Kong harbor. Wishing you all the best in the year of the snake!

By the way, the snake is from Tiny Footprints and is handknit by women in Bangladesh through a nonprofit called Pebble. Very cool. You can buy it on amazon here. FX loves it! Such a fun toy.

Marleen Molenaar raincoats and pjs.

There’s not much in life cuter than mini Morton salt girls… am I right?

I think the perfect gift is always something you wouldn’t get for yourself, but that you will actually use.

That’s why I was so happy to have found these yellow rain coats and hats by local Hong Kong pajama and outerwear designer Marleen Molenaar.

Marleen has a studio / office by appointment only in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong. You can make an appointment to go through all of her lovely, whimsical clothes or you can also shop online: she ships all over the world. Marleen has worked in the clothing industry for decades, including for Esprit. She has really crafted a nice niche for herself… it’s so nice to buy something that you know isn’t ubiquitous, but it still the highest quality design and craftsmanship.

I really like her simple blue and white branding. It’s very light-hearted and elegant, just like Marleen herself. Marleen hails from Amsterdam, but has been in HK for years.

In addition to the raincoats I bought for all my favorite little ones this holiday season, she also has a wonderful collection of classic pajamas.

How adorable is my godson in his cozy robe?

I couldn’t resist getting these fish PJs for the HK bundle… he’s still way too small to fit into it, but I’m looking forward to the day when he’ll be big enough to be my little fisherman!

1-3 Wo On Lane/17-19 D’Aguilar Street
Central, Hong Kong

Home for Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all!!

This is the first time we’ve been home for Christmas and after a whirlwind, 4-city Thanksgiving US tour, boy does it feel good.

It feels so nice to be able to really enjoy our tree.

And our own little holiday ambience (that candle smells like a real wood fireplace) and those clove oranges I made with girlfriends at a holiday crafting night.

And our lil bundle who is getting cuter by the day.

We had the girls downstairs over for make your own ice cream sundaes, with homemade caramel and chocolate sauce and also hot chocolate (spiked for the adults). Ice cream sundaes does seem like the perfect holiday dessert here in Hong Kong.

It’s been unseasonably warm! We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the beach and I was really sweating when I tried to wear my new boots! Silly girl.

Friends from SF stopped by over the weekend for a holiday luncheon.

Francis now has his own seat at the table!

All of our holiday cards are en route.

Packages have been sent and most (fingers crossed!) have arrived. Have I mentioned here that I LOVE HKPost?? It costs the same to send a package from San Francisco to Boston as it does to send it from here to Boston. How is that possible?

Jam has been made… passionfruit this year instead of the usual red pepper jelly.

Now all the candles are lit!

I’m most excited about giving gifts from Vision First and of course I did buy a few of these pretty balls for our own growing ornament collection.

I’ve even made a few plates for our romantic little dinner just the two of us.

We’ve got a brilliant arrangement from Ellermann to make the house feel extra festive. So now we just wait for Baby Jesus to arrive.

Santa has already stopped by… if you’re wondering what that large suitcase is doing under the tree… well I asked Santa to fix my bag’s zippers (something I have been trying to do for no fewer than 18 months) and it looks like I may have been a good girl after all. Sending you all lots of warm wishes for a blessed Christmas day!
