Minted invite giveaway!

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t actually change a single thing about my wedding, but it is fun to think about what you might do if you had to do it again differently… or even better, imagine what it’s like for an engaged friend. Continue reading

New baby girl rose cupcakes.

My good friend just gave birth to a little baby girl at Matilda–read more about that hospital/hotel here! I wanted to bring a little something special to the hospital that celebrated that it was a girl… they wanted it to be a surprise and EVERYONE had been telling her it was a boy as she was carrying quite small and very in front.

I was so excited that this new method of decorating from Glorious Treats. As it turns out, all you need to make a rose is a Wilton 2D tip… instead of frosting from outside swirling in towards the center, you start on the inside and go to the outside. I also used her version of cream cheese frosting (note the butter comes out of the fridge just ten minutes before and the cream cheese is straight from the fridge). I think because of the humidity here I had to add 1.5x the powdered sugar called for, but otherwise it was a great frosting to work with. The adorable card is from The Social Type and features a beautiful foil embossed seal!

Note: my airplane trays bought for my travel party are SO useful!

Wren Press.

One of my good friends used to work for the Wren Press out of London… no coincidence, of course, that a friend of mine would be a paper lover!

She brought up some of their birth announcement samples to check out and I thought I’d share them with you. I thought their footprint birth announcements were quite cute… you stamp and scan the babies foot and then mail it in. This could be a really fun DIY birth announcement project.
Now you know my obsession with the time difference — how awesome are these birth announcements for a baby with international ties?! If you haven’t already you must download my sleep chart.
I really like ships and boats for babies… the plane is great for a new arrival and the ship, referencing so many Christian themes, from fisheaters.com. Have you ever noticed how often the ceilings of cathedrals ceilings look like boats?

“As those outside of Noah’s Ark were destroyed, the ship became a perfect early symbol of the Church with its associations with “the barque of Peter, the Fisherman.” In the same vein, the main part of a church’s interior, the place where the people worship, is called a “nave,” from the Latin “navis” — ship. The Ark is also a symbol of the Temple through its shape and purpose, both having three levels, etc. And as a symbol of the Temple and Church, it is a symbol of Mary, sealed off with pitch and closed up by God Himself.”

Their insanely thick museum board allows for the most amazing side edging. LOVE. Although it is completely ridiculous and over the top for a birth announcement!

They also offer printing on a plastic type card with embossing on top… I’ve never seen this before, but it’s very durable!
