$86 million vase.

I’m a sucker for treasure in the attic stories, like this one, which reminded me of my own porcelain vase hunt. This vase from the 1740s was discovered by children when cleaning out their dead parent’s attic in outer London… it was found with a bunch of other things worth next to nothing and was just purchased by an unidentified Chinese person by phone.

The coolest part about the vase, in my opinion, is that there is a vase within the vase covered in scrolling blue flowers that can be viewed through the dragon-shaped lattice perforations of the outer vase.

Isn’t the top view lovely? I love aqua and yellow together.

I imagine it is this seal that helped experts determine its worth.

I am long Chinese antiquities; As the wealthy Chinese accumulate larger and larger fortunes I think they will embrace their own art and heritage more and more.
