Or maybe you would prefer this more normal one for just $170.The Japanese tradition of gifting fruit is alive and well here in Hong Kong. Gift giving melon is grown very differently from ordinary melon and the Japanese claim it has a superior scent and texture. Less than one percent of these melons, which are grown only in a certain region, are certified as gifting eligible or ‘fuji.’ The cultural idea is that you gift items that are much nicer than what you would buy for yourself, which is very sweet, but can be a little hard to keep up with! Hong Kongers are obsessed with Japan–even after the nuclear disaster, everything Japanese is considered super pure and trustworthy, unlike many items made in China. Read more in this NYTimes piece.

  1. The edges of the inset sides will have to be trimmed the thickness of the poly you use so they can be inset and still keep the box square. Trimming these edges is probably the hardest step.
