December birthdays & Rainbow cake.

I feel so bad for December birthdays. No matter how much we all try… they always get the short-end of the stick. I try to do my very best to do right bey all the December birthdays in my life–and there are so many of them: my Dad, the Mr., two of my SILs, the Mr.’s grandmother, it looks like my godson may arrive in the next week, and my beloved Miss Morgan. Morgan’s mom went out of her way to make Morgan’s December feel like a real birthday with this awesome rainbow cake.

Here’s the “behind-the-making-of.”

Isn’t this cake so fun? And all it takes is a little food coloring. Wouldn’t it be fun to do one for an upcoming birthday or what about a red and pink version for Valentine’s day?

Robyn is also a wonderful Mom because she gave Morgan totally separate birthday and Christmas gifts. Like Robyn, with all of my December birthday I really try not to wrap birthday gifts in Christmas paper.

Happy Birthday to Morgan and all my other December birthdays. And mental addition to my to-do list: buy December birthday gifts for next year now during post-Christmas sales.

  1. So funny! I made that exact cake for Claire’s birthday!! It looked exactly like this one. Everyone said they were wondering why I didn’t decorate the outside of the cake. They figured it out when I cut the first slice!
