Custom shelf painting gift.

Back in December, my nephew drew my brother-in-law’s name out of the hat for our under the tree gift… and I know you all sympathize with me on how difficult it is to shop for the men in your life.

My bro-in-law is a serious political journalist, a great reader, and a huge Boston Red Sox fan and after meeting the lovely Gwendolyn at the National Stationery Show, I knew I had the perfect gift for him: a custom painted book shelf from Dear Hancock to decorate his new at-home office. I sneakily asked him for his top ten books saying I was going to get them for the Mr. for Christmas so the books above accurately reflect his tastes. And didn’t Dear Hancock do an amazing job in executing it? In this era of e-readers, I think custom bookshelves are especially fun and would make for great birthday gifts, Father’s Day gifts, etc. For other great male gift ideas, see: whisky rocks, shoe valets, and groom’s gifts.

  1. Very clever gift for a *very* hard-to-shop for guy!
