Pretty pjs for a pretty lady.

My good friend Tori is getting married on Saturday and I wanted to do something special for her and PJs are her thing… she puts them on as soon as she gets home from work–which is a smart way to save on dry cleaning bills. So I thought of having custom pjs made for her (a big perk of being in China is having clothes made is very cheap) and her friends for her shower favors, which I couldn’t attend being in HK.

I asked minted designer Karly of Oscar & Emma to design a custom fabric just for her. It has all of her favorite things (cupcakes, she drives a Vespa, her dad is a New England lobsterman, and she loves big bows) and is Lily Pullitzer (also her favorite) inspired. Didn’t she do a cute job? The polka dots are my favorite part.

Of course, Rome wasn’t built in a day… here was Karly’s first draft.

I took Karly’s design and uploaded it to Spoonflower, a site that lets you design your own fabric and also ships internationally. It was super easy and the fabric was great quality.

To skip the  hassle of wrapping paper, I found these inexpensive lingerie bags at Stanley Market.

Here is the bride opening hers at the shower.

And here are some gals wearing them at her bachelorette.

I always think the best gifts are ones that truly reflect what the person loves. Here’s to a wonderful day on Saturday for Tori & Steve!

  1. N, you are amazing! What a wonderful present. And I am happy to hear Spoonflower does nice work – I was thinking of having some fabric made but wasn’t sure about quality.
