Starbay furniture.

The Mr. has never shown much interest in interior design or furniture. That’s not to say he doesn’t have opinions, but they’re not passionate opinions. That is, until we walked into the Starbay showroom and he promptly declared that one day he would have a “Man Cave” filled with, and only with, Starbay furniture. (A “Man Cave,” by the way, is an area where women are not allowed where men can go to escape us and do manly things in a manly fashion, like watch sports, play poker and smoke cigars.) Recognize that shoe valet below?

There desks are pretty  awesome–they have lots of drawers and lids that fold down so you can hide away your messes.Starbay has redone furniture designs from luxury ocean liners headed for India during the British campaign era.  So everything is very “ship shape” which appeals to me, especially because I am a pack rat who loves to stash things away in every nook and cranny. With all the British influence here, their things do fit in quite nicely. All of their furniture is made from solid African rosewood in a very traditional way. Isn’t this fold out cot cool? It would be nice to have for extra visitors in theory, although I tried it and it wasn’t that comfortable. So if your husband develops a sudden passion for things for the home, you have to go with it. We ended up getting this nifty luncheon table for our living room. It has little extendable leaves that pull out on all four sides. But in my dream world (and with my dream home) we would have gotten one of these awesome little makeup vanity cases! I suppose this is the equivalent of a female cave!

  1. I think that table is a grand choice. I love our square (not as fashionable) coffee table. It allows for food, coloring (for the kids), and plenty of whatever horizontal activity is going on! Bravo!

  2. Natasha,

I have a man cave. Nothing in it is anywhere near this nice!

  3. Man cave? Where’s the Fathead?

I went ahead and picked one out for you: http://www.fathead.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/tom-brady—series-2/

  4. Natasha,
Where can I find Starbay’s showroom please ?
Last time I came across their furniture was in the UK a few years ago. Have not manage to locate it here in HK yet.

  5. Endre, They have a showroom in Shambala, floor two of Horizon Plaza in Ap Lei Chau. http://www.shambala.com.hk/ They also have some other cool things there. You have to go through the garage to get to Shambala, FYI. Enjoy!

  7. Hi Natasha,
Last year, my wife and I purchased a starbay Broadway Armchair (wood base) at Shambala and asolutely love it! I wanted two but she thought one would do. She now agrees we need a matching one but unfortunately Shambala’s manufacturer does not offer this chair anymore. I am really bummed. In case you know of another way to purchase this, please let me know.
BTW, I have a mancave (sort of) but have no Starbay items. 🙁
    Thanks.

  8. I went to Shambala last week and they have additional collections of Starbay.

  9. About a year ago I bought Starbay Magellan coffe table. Manufacturer forgot about lifting mechanism so I made a complaint. After 7 months, I received another table with much lower quality and looks like a previously used but with lifting mechanism… Now I waiting for next exchange. Excuse my english 🙂 I wanted to furnish a house with Starbay furniture, but do not want to see their furniture in my house anymore because they treat customers badly.
