Bird Market closes after detecting avian flu virus.

If you’re visiting Hong Kong, the bird market has long been a must-stop… but it’s always felt just a little bit creepy / dirty. Here my friend Tammy is at the market’s opening during her visit last spring.

And as it turns out it is… the deadly H5N1 Virus was just discovered there in an Oriental magpies cage and the market has been closed for the next three weeks. I guess it’s not surprising to find bird flu in a bird market.
