Girls weekend: Yao Noi Thailand.

A few weeks back, six of us girls hopped on a quick, 3 hour flight to Thailand to celebrate our friend Mo’s upcoming nuptials.

We were so lucky to get to hang out in such a beautiful place!

I just couldn’t get enough of the limestone pebble islands. It really was a lot like Halong Bay, only in Thailand.

All we really did the whole weekend was gab away and look at the changing vista.

The weekend was a little bit of a send-off, reunion as well as one of our dear friends who had moved back to the States was in town from North Carolina and three of the gals are moving back to the US in the next few months… so it was especially nice to have this time together.

One big, last hurrah! And lots of marriage advice for Miss Monique as well.

The resort we stayed at was affiliated with the floating cinema I wrote about a little while back and they had a cool, outdoor theatre set-up year round.

To get to the resort, you have to take a 30-min car ride from the airport to a marina and then a 45-min boat ride, but the boat trip is definitely one of the highlights of the trip.

We caught the start of rainy season so we got some crazy thunderstorms… but the weather changes so quickly so we also got a few really nice sunny hours. To avoid the rain, we traveled around the rainforest in golfcarts. All the little villas were spaced apart so we kind of felt like we had the resort to ourselves.

Above, a view back on the resort from the boat.

The wildlife around us was crazy.

We had our own little lilly pond, complete with croaking frogs.

Pretty flowers!

And these crazy trees laden with heavy berry bunches… I’ve done a lot of googling and can’t figure out what they’re called, but they very pretty and very exotic.

There were lots of nice areas to hang out… and chat, chat, chat.

A lot of food we ate was grown on the premises and they even made their own rubber… pretty cool.

Oh and there is *free* gelato 24/7. Every resort in the world should have this! What is a vacation without free ice cream?

All the ice cream was made on site, but it was the passionfruit (from trees on the resort) that really stole my heart. Best sweet/tart combination ever. Ever!

There was a pretty beach that we never made it to… sticking instead to the rain-proof pool area, which also had a water slide!

Our friend Lindsey took advantage of it!

And here we are in our matching Old Navy pareos… the little favor gift for the weekend.

Next up: some pics of the actual wedding shower part of the weekend!
