Villa Cascadas.

Oh, Villa Cascadas how I miss you and Mexico, you too! New Year’s with you was so wonderful and I just returned to Hong Kong and people are donning hats, fur and real coats. It’s crazy how it can be so nice in one part of the world and so not nice in another.

A few of you have requested pics of the house we rented in Mexico… renting houses from friends of friends beats staying in a hotel anytime! How cool are thatched roofs?

The waterfall going through the entire house was pretty incredible.

And the infinity pool with view of whales breaching is pretty tough to beat as well.

Not only is the Bay of Banderas a nursery for humpbacks, but there is also pretty great fishing.

One of my favorite parts was getting everyone to try yoga.

In addition to a giant dining room table, there were two other great places to eat: at the front of the pool area and on the third floor roof deck with a view of the beautiful surrounding beaches and sunsets.

Here at breakfast, everyone is distracted by the jumping whales!

And here everyone is enjoying “snack,” which was really a full meal served in the late afternoon.

And the natural beauty could not have been more spectacular, especially the sunsets!

  1. Oh my gosh! What an amazing way to spend new years!! And with friends!! I have to admit, I am a total fan of a vacation spent somewhere like this where I do a lot of sitting and staring at a body of water with no schedule or obligation to sight-see. Just be.
